Lunchtime Club

Lunchtime club highlight - Checkmate!

Every Tuesday at lunch, Room 16 fills with students deep in thought, plotting their next move in an intense game of chess. Whether they’re seasoned players or just figuring out how the horsey piece moves (it’s called a knight, by the way), the club is open to everyone who wants to challenge themselves or just have a bit of fun.

Chess is a great way to build patience, strategy, and problem-solving skills, but let’s be honest—it’s also just really satisfying to trap someone’s king and call checkmate! For those who prefer a different kind of game, a few students have also been known to break out a round of draughts.

A huge shoutout to Ms. Veitch for making this club happen each week! Her support and enthusiasm keep the students engaged and coming back for more.

So if you’re in Years 7-9 and up for a challenge, why not stop by next Tuesday? You might just surprise yourself with a hidden talent—or at least have a good laugh trying!
