One Fete-ful Day!

What an incredible day we shared yesterday at the 2025 FNPS School Fete! After the truly horrendous weather that swept through on Saturday, we were all watching the skies with crossed fingers. Thankfully, the clouds showed us a little kindness, and the weather held off for the most part; allowing our community to gather, celebrate, and enjoy a day that was filled with energy, colour, music and joy.

A heartfelt thank you goes to our remarkable Fete Committee, whose dedication and countless hours of planning brought this event to life. To our grade parents, staff, volunteers, and every helping hand who ran stalls, cooked, sold, lifted, organised, cleaned, set up and packed down; your generosity and teamwork were visible in every part of the day. And of course, to our students, thank you for your enthusiasm, your performances, your leadership, and your spirit. You are the heartbeat of our school.

We are thrilled to share that, although the final tally is still being confirmed, it looks as though our fundraising profit will be in excess of $90,000. This is an extraordinary achievement and will directly support opportunities and initiatives that enrich learning and strengthen our school community.

This year’s fete held special meaning as we continue to mark Fitzroy North Primary School’s 150th Anniversary. To come together in such a joyful and connected way reminds us of what makes FNPS so special. It was not just an event, it was a celebration of our past, an expression of who we are today, and a contribution to what we will continue to build together for the future.

Thank you for being part of our story; yesterday, today, and in all the years still to come.

Remembrance Day 2025

At 11 am on 11 November 1918, the guns on the Western Front fell silent after more than four years of continuous warfare.

Tomorrow, at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, FNPS will pause to reflect and remember those who came before us as we hold our 2022 Remembrance Day commemoration. Our Year 6 leaders will lead the school through a service that honours those who fought and lost their lives in The Great War. The children will observe one minute of silence and participate in the service with respect and reverence.

2026 Class Placements

Later this week, teachers will be speaking with students about selecting three learning friends for next year. The focus of these conversations is always on choosing peers who help us learn well together, rather than simply selecting friendship groups. This ensures that each classroom is a supportive environment where every student can feel safe, valued, and ready to thrive.

If there is information you would like us to consider when forming classes for 2026, please email Joe or myself by the end of this week. Please note that class placement is a thoughtful and thorough process, where we consider academic and wellbeing needs, social dynamics, and teacher insight. This is an opportunity to share relevant information regarding your child’s learning, social, or emotional needs, not requests for specific teachers or friends. Parent perspectives are considered alongside teacher knowledge and student input to help us create balanced and positive learning communities.

Next year, we will return to single year level classes in Years 1 and 2, while our Year 3/4 cohort will continue in a multi-age structure.

Our Years 1–6 Step-Up Morning will take place on Tuesday 9 December 2025. This is an important transition experience where students will spend time in their new classrooms, meet their 2026 teachers, and begin to form the social fabric of their new learning communities.

Go gently,

Tania
