Foundation ~ Year 1
STEM Education ~ BBC (BeeBot City) is under construction!
Lots of ideas and designs and conversations and collaborations around our BeeBot city and what makes a city were the basis of many discussions in the junior area over the past fortnight. Our STEM unit is culminating in the construction of our city and the coding of our BeeBot technologies to navigate these vehicles safely around the city. It's been wonderful watching and listening to children's creative ideas and seeing these ideas turn into pieces that have been used as part of our city ~ restaurants, offices, homes, towers, bridges, pools etc are all ideas that our junior students have created. It's going to be a fun last four weeks, that's for sure.
Religion ~ We Remember
Inspired by the poem 'In Flanders Fields', the students had an opportunity to complete a piece of artwork to commemorate November 11th and the anniversary of the end of WW1. A difficult concept for most people, least of all our young ones, We centred mainly on the poppy as a sign of growth, change, beauty and peace. Students used charcoal and water paints to create a war scene and used a range of different sized poppies to illustrate the importance of peace in our world.

Year 5/6
Over the last two weeks, 5/6 have been diving into our new Inquiry topic 'Bee Bot Adventures'. The intention of this unit is to allow them to build their understanding of basic coding and algorithms in an engaging and team based approach.
The students have been working collaboratively to explore how the bee bots work, and ways in which they can design courses/pathways for these bee bots to follow.
The kids have had such a fabulous time enjoying these robots, here are some pictures of what we have been up to!
