As we move through these final weeks of the school year, we pause to give thanks for the many blessings within our Sacred Heart community. Let us take a moment to pray for God’s loving care over our students, staff and families.

A Blessing for Our Sacred Heart Community

May the love of Jesus bless our Sacred Heart community.

May His peace calm our hearts, guide our words,

and help us show kindness to one another each day.

May His strength support our teachers and staff,

filling them with patience, courage and joy in their work.

May His compassion surround our students and families,

bringing comfort, hope and unity to every home.

May we continue to walk together in faith,

trusting that God is with us in all we do

and in every step of our journey.

Amen.

Planning for 2026

As we continue planning for 2026, we are focused on creating class groupings that support every child’s learning, wellbeing, and sense of belonging.

Thank you to families who have shared their insights about who your children learn best with, your input is invaluable.

Our commitment remains the same: Children are at the heart of everything we do. We look forward to working together to ensure every student can grow, flourish, and enjoy a rewarding year ahead.

Curriculum Day – Friday 21st November

On Friday, our staff had the pleasure of working with Kate Korber to develop our 2026 and 2027 Curriculum and Inquiry Maps. It was an amazing day of collaboration, reflection, and planning, focused on designing engaging and meaningful learning experiences for all our students.

As part of the day, staff worked in their 2026 teams to begin planning the first term’s Inquiry focus: “My Body, My Responsibility”. This unit will explore Health and Wellbeing, as well as Personal and Social Capability, giving students the opportunity to develop self-awareness, make healthy choices, and build positive relationships.

This dedicated time allowed our teachers to share ideas, plan purposeful learning, and ensure that our curriculum continues to support every child’s growth, curiosity, and love of learning in 2026 and beyond.

We are grateful for Kate’s expertise and for the enthusiasm and commitment of our team, which makes days like this so productive and inspiring.

2025 Annual Archdiocesan Celebration of Principals

On Wednesday 19th November, principals from across the Archdiocese gathered for the Annual Archdiocesan Celebration of Principals. Mark and I attended the evening, which began with a beautiful Mass at St Patrick’s Cathedral, followed by dinner at the Royal Park Hyatt Ballroom. It was a wonderful opportunity for leaders to come together in faith, gratitude, and fellowship.

During the celebration, we farewelled principals concluding their leadership journeys in Catholic education, including our own Mark Tiernay, whom we thank for his service and dedication.

We also warmly welcomed those appointed as principals for 2025. It was a proud and humbling moment to be acknowledged as the incoming Principal of Sacred Heart. I look forward to continuing our school’s mission with dedication, joy and a deep commitment to our community.

The evening was a reminder of the strength and unity within Catholic Education, and the shared purpose that guides our work with children and families each day.

School Safety & Clifton Grove Parking

We want to let our families know that the school and our Advisory Council have raised concerns with Darebin Council about the ongoing safety and parking issues on Clifton Grove. We understand that many parents have received fines, and we recognise how confusing the current signage and conditions can be during busy pick up and drop off times.

We are advocating for clearer signage, improved safety measures, and more consistent support at the school crossing. We will keep our community updated as we continue this important conversation with Council.

A special thank you to Geoff for taking all the photos of the signs in our street and preparing the letter to Council.

Thank you for your patience and care in keeping our students safe.

There’s still time for Sacred Heart students to join ARCappella’s Children & Youth Choir, rehearsing Wednesdays after school from 4:15 pm, leading to their Carols by Candlelight performance on 6 December at Edwardes Lake. Parents are also welcome to join the Christmas Choir; sing, make friends, and enjoy this special community event!

Dates to Remember – A Quick Reminder

With December just around the corner, don’t forget to check the Dates to Remember section for all the upcoming events and special activities at Sacred Heart.

Wishing everyone a happy and wonderful week!

Warmest wishes,

Antoniette
