Classroom Spotlight

Foundation
Our Foundation students have been learning about how to take care of the Earth through the ideas of reduce, reuse, and recycle. They are exploring how everyday choices can make a difference and have enjoyed connecting these concepts to their own lives.
In literacy, students have also been reading “Gus and Tex”, practising their decoding skills and discussing the characters’ adventures!
Junior School
Junior students have continued their inquiry into Ancient India.
Last week, they learnt about Diwali, the Festival of Lights! A celebration that symbolises the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. Students explored how families prepare for Diwali, including decorating homes, and enjoying colourful celebrations.
Students have been working with suffixes such as –ed (“lift-ed”) and –er, and reading a Jataka Tale to build comprehension. They have also been practising using FANBOYS (for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so) to create more detailed and connected sentences!
In numeracy, students are representing patterns using repeated addition and early multiplication, supported by pictures and hands-on materials.
Middle School
Our middle school students have wrapped up their studies of the solar system, demonstrating their understanding of Astronomy and our universe. They also enjoyed an exciting experience at Lady Northcote Camp.
Next, students will be moving into a new science unit: “How My Body Works.” They’ll explore the skeletal system, muscles, and sensory systems to understand how the body moves, protects itself, and gathers information from the world around them!
Senior School
Senior students have been investigating Consumerism and Advertising, particularly the differences between needs and wants and examining community needs.
Senior students explored the different resources needed to produce a hamburger. After designing their ideal burger, they identified the natural ingredients involved, the human skills required, and the capital equipment used in its production. This activity helped them understand how everyday goods are created from a mix of people, materials, and tools.
Project Time
During Project Time, students reflected on the parts of school that spark their curiosity and the learning experiences they genuinely love. Some students chose to express their ideas by creating posters, showcasing what inspires and motivates them at school!
Indigenous Studies
In Indigenous Studies, Junior students have continued to explore connection to country.
This week, we gathered some leaves from the garden (from the ground to show respect for country) and used them to trace our very own leaf gardens!
