Principal, Ms Alex Montgomery

It’s been an exciting couple of weeks at school! Our students have been busy engaging in learning, celebrating achievements, and participating in a wide range of activities across the school. Over the past two weeks, we have enjoyed wonderful events and opportunities to recognise student progress, celebrate culture, and connect with our school community. We look forward to continuing this momentum over the next four weeks of learning, growth, and celebration as we approach the end of Term 4!
Killi Biin Biin Awards Evening
The Glendale Education Alliance (GEA), comprising Edgeworth Public School, Argenton Public School, Glendale East Public School, Elermore Vale Public School, and Glendale Technology High School, proudly presented the Killi Biin Biin Awards evening in partnership with the Kumaridha AECG. The event was held on Wednesday, 19 December.
The evening provided a wonderful opportunity to recognise the accomplishments of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students from our local schools. It also celebrated the teachers and community members who strengthen Aboriginal culture within our school community.
Recognising and celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture plays an important role in building a strong, inclusive school community. It supports the Bridging the Gap initiative by fostering equity in education and reflects the Department of Education’s commitment to inclusive practices and cultural respect. Celebrations like the Killi Biin Biin Awards not only honour the achievements of students but also strengthen connections between schools, families, and the wider community. By valuing and sharing culture, we create a school environment where all students feel respected, included, and proud of their identity.
Congratulations to all award recipients!
International Day of Disability – 3 December 2025
At Edgeworth Public School, we recognise the International Day of Disability as an important opportunity to foster understanding, inclusion, and empathy within our school community. This day helps students learn that disability is a natural part of human diversity, and that everyone deserves to feel valued, respected, and supported. By openly discussing disability and celebrating the strengths and contributions of people with disability, we help our students grow into kinder, more aware, and more inclusive young people.
To support this learning, students will participate in classroom lessons and hear from our guest speaker, Jay Stevens from Stand for Spinal, on 3 December. Jay will share his story and speak with students about resilience, accessibility, and the importance of inclusive communities. His visit, alongside classroom activities, will deepen students’ understanding and reinforce the message that everyone has the right to participate fully in school and in life.
High Potential and Gifted Education Opportunity for Year 4 Students
A group of our Year 4 students was selected based on their skills in the Social and Emotional Domain to take part in a unique High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) opportunity at Merewether Selective High School, the only selective high school in our local area.
Throughout the day, students worked alongside and were mentored by Year 10 Technology Multimedia students. They participated in a range of hands-on digital media and creative technology activities, including:
- Using photography and film equipment
- Working in the high school’s green-screen studio
- Creating a short video production showcasing our initiatives and goals for 2026
Engaging with virtual reality headsets during off-camera rotations
It was a wonderful and enriching learning experience for our students. We extend our thanks to the Head Teacher, Scott Cox, and the team at Merewether Selective High School, as well as Miss Kendall McCallum and Mrs Haley Bynon, for providing this valuable opportunity.
Personalised Learning and Support Plan (PLaSP) and Personalised Learning Pathway (PLP's) End-of-Year Meetings
As we approach the end of the year, we are pleased to offer PLaSP end-of-year meetings for students with additional needs to acknowledge their progress and celebrate their achievements. These meetings provide a valuable opportunity to work collaboratively with families to support each student’s learning journey as the school year concludes.
The meetings will be held with your child’s classroom teachers and the supervising Deputy Principal at the end of Week 9.
We will also be hosting a PLP and Yarn Up on Wednesday, 3 December, from 8:40 am to 9:10 am, specifically for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families. This is a chance to recognise the progress children have made throughout the year. Your child’s classroom teacher will be present to discuss your child’s progress and celebrate their achievements with you.
