Year 9 Humanities
Year 9 students have dedicated both time and brain power to improving their writing skills in Humanities this year. This has included learning to structure short answers and extended responses in History and describing spatial associations and spatial distributions in Geography. Most recently, they worked together to map the global distribution of food security, before describing this distribution in an extended response piece.
Emily wrote:
The global distribution of food security is clustered. There is a high food security cluster in North America including Canada with 25+% of the population experiencing food security. Another cluster is in East and in Central Asia, including China with 25+% of the population experiencing food security. One anomaly is in Afghanistan which has low food security. This is not typical of the region, who experienced medium food security. The evidence shows that the global distribution of food security is clustered.

For example, the low food security of the world is clustered in Central African Republic, Zambia and DRC. The food security of this area is very low with only 0-3.4% of the population experiencing food security. Another example of a cluster is in North America with High food security; including Canada, The United States and Mexico. In Northen America the food security index is high with 25% of the population experiencing food security.
An exception to the clustered pattern is in Afghanistan, Southern Asia. This is unusual for this area; the surrounds of Afghanistan have higher food. Afghanistan has a low food security with 0-3.4% of people experiencing food security.
The cluster formations in Central Africa and North America are both evidence that the spatial distribution of the globe’s food security is clustered.
Work Experience 2026
Over the weekend, Year 9 students ran a Hot Potatoes stall at the Central Victorian Drag and Drive event at the Charlton Airstrip. They did a great job preparing and serving food to attendees and worked well together throughout the day. Thank you to everyone who supported.
Year 10 Food
The Year 10’s recently completed researching Food Trucks in Food Technology. They went about designing their own cuisine and creating a logo before producing something from their menu. There was a great variety such as breakfast burgers, waffles, Japanese, Mexican, Italian and HSP.
