Message from Paul Sharp

I am getting ready to head to camp for the second night. I have been reliably informed that the students have conducted themselves exceptionally well so far.

Before attending camp I spoke to the students about a focus for camp. ‘Be Comfortable being uncomfortable’. This should never be seeking danger, rather just that sense of unease. This is a key message that I want our students and staff to embrace. It is where great growth and development comes from. It is not easy, and we don’t want to spend all of our time there, because that would not allow time for rest and renewal. However, if we truly want to grow, then we must spend time challenging ourselves and embracing the feeling of unease that a hard maths question, a social challenge or a physical workout brings.

The other importance of Camp is the element of play and joy. We must intentionally seek these elements, as they are a source of energy and where memories are created. As a Catholic community, we have just celebrated the joy of Easter, of the resurrection, a time that renews us after an intense time of reflection.

So for this term, let us be inspired by our Year 4,5 and 6 students and all embrace a sense of play, joy whilst being comfortable, with being uncomfortable.

Open Day

We will hold another Open Day on Tuesday 23rd of April at 9:30am. If you have Prep starting next year, please come along for a tour led by our senior students and a chat with myself.

Year 6 Leaders

Our Year 6 leaders received their leadership badges at Mass. I am proud that they have created and selected their roles this year. This shows the power of ‘student voice’. We have high expectations of the impact they can have on others in the school. The students will receive their Year 6 Jumpers on Monday at Assembly.

Assembly

Assembly will now be fortnightly on a Monday, starting at 3pm. On the alternate weeks, students will have specific wellbeing lessons as part of our focus on students mental health.

Pope Francis Prayer Intention

The Pope has put a special prayer intention for April, for the role of women in society. We see the great influence our Mother’s, Female role models and Female staff play in the lives of our Children.

‘Let us pray for every culture to acknowledge the value of women, and to put an end to the discrimination they encounter.’

Stephanie Alexander Grant

Our school has been successful in gaining a $5000 grant and membership to the program for two years. This means our cooking club, breakfast club and gardening club will all be able to work collegially to create healthy food, whilst educating the whole community about what is possible with gardening and cooking skills. Thanks to Mrs. Glenis Cheyne for leading the work to get this grant!
