CURRICULUM FOCUS

In Writing this week we are learning about how to write a card. Examples of cards include a birthday card, Christmas card, Mother’s/Father’s/Special persons card.

When we write a card we will be focusing on 3 parts- a greeting, message and sign off.

VOCABULARY

Card- something you might give someone when it is a special occasion such as a birthday to give your wishes.

Greeting- how we begin a card for example- To, Dear

Message- your wishes you would like to say to someone e.g. “Hope you have a great birthday”

Sign off- how we end a card for example- From, Love, Best wishes

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

With your child, discuss different times or occasions when you might give someone a card and the reason for it.

With your child you could go on a hunt around your house to find examples of cards you or someone in your household have received before. Discuss the types of cards they are and what they were given/received for.

Your child may wish to create a card for someone.
