Upcoming Whole School Dates

Prep

Dates to Remember:

  • Tuesday 25th June - Firefighter visit (all Preps)

Reminders:

Parent-Teacher-Student Interviews

It is extremely important you have booked in for an interview with your child's teacher to celebrate your child's successes so far. Bookings can be made via Compass.

Holiday Routines

We strongly encourage your child to complete the regular 1 lesson of Mathseeds for each week of the holidays. The first week will be lesson 30 and second week lesson 31. This will mean your child will be ready to complete lesson 32 in Term 3 Week 1! We also strongly encourage your child to continue their 4 nights of reading. Keeping these routines in place will help your child transition smoothly back to school next term.

Year 1

Reminders:

Homework

Establishing a solid homework routine can set your child up for great success in their schooling. In Year 1, it is an expectation that our students read 4 nights a week and that it is documented in their student diary. We would like students to bring their diary in daily so that we can check this off.

Every week, we expect our students to complete one Mathseeds lesson. A homework week begins on a Sunday. During the week, students are to complete one lesson. We ask parents to oversee the use of Mathseeds, as we have noticed some students completing more than one.

If you have any questions related to Mathseeds, please email your child's teacher.

iPad

In Year One, using iPads is integral to our student's learning. Please support your child in making sure their iPad comes to school fully charged.  We do not want any child missing out on the educational activities that involve using the devices.

Year 2

Reminders:

Homework

Thank you for your continued support in instilling a strong homework routine for your child right up to the end of the term. The expectation is 1 lesson of Mathseeds completed a week (Sunday - Saturday). Please remember that Sunday starts the new week.

The other homework expectation is reading 4 nights for 15 minutes. This is to be written in your child's diary and signed. Diaries should come to school every day.

Holiday Routines

We strongly encourage your child to complete 1 lesson of Mathseeds for each week of the holidays (1 lesson in the first week and 1 lesson in the second week). We also strongly encourage your child to continue their 4 nights of reading for 15 minutes. This may be a great opportunity to visit your local library to borrow books to read.

By doing this, you child will continue their strong homework routine throughout the holidays, and this will make for a smoother transition back to school.

Year 3

Reminders:

Accelerated Reader

In Year 3, students have been given an Accelerated Reader range which guides them to find a book that is just right for them. This means a book that is not too easy and not too hard. In Term 1, students practised using the features of AR. For Term 2, students have been given a points and comprehension target. Their outcomes will show on their Student Dashboard at the end of term.

Please support your child by encouraging them to read each night and record this in their diaries so they can take the quiz at school the following day.

Year 4

Dates to Remember:

  • Monday 24 June: RSPCA Excursion (4A)
  • Tuesday 25 June: RSPCA Excursion (4B and 4C)

Reminders:

RSPCA Excursion

Our Year 4 students have been eagerly awaiting our excursion to the RSPCA next week. Please ensure your child is at school prior to 9.00am on the day of their excursion as the bus will depart at 9.15am. We ask students to wear their P.E. uniform and to ensure they have their jumper/jacket. Students may also like to pack a beanie and gloves in their bag in case the weather is very cold!

Reading on the Holidays

We encourage students to continue reading for half an hour a day over the holidays. Many students are keen to increase their AR reading level next term and maintaining a good reading routine will support your child to do this.

Year 5

Dates to Remember:

  • Tuesday 25th June: Endangered Animal Expo

Reminders:

STAR Reading Assessment

When we return in week 1 of Term 3, students will be sitting their STAR Reading Assessment. Over the holidays, the Year 5 students are encouraged to keep up their reading.

Year 6

Reminders:

Homework

Just a friendly reminder to ensure that homework diaries are signed and to engage in conversations about AR targets and reading progress. Your support in this matter is greatly appreciated!

Arrival at School

We would like to remind families that we encourage students to arrive at school at 8:45am to have time to put away their bag, set up their desk and read before lessons begin at 9:00am. Between 8:45am and 9:00am is a great time for students to read and demonstrate their comprehension of their books by taking an AR quiz.
