Visual Arts

Term 2 - Week 8

Foundation - The foundation students have enjoyed painting. We have mixed colours and painted like Kandinsky. We have also been cutting lots of different shapes and made a simple, but effective mobile, based on Kandinsky, which we put up in the foyer. Hope you can check this out soon!

Year 1 and 2 - The Year 1 and 2 students are painting, painting, painting! We have learnt to mix colours. We have used crayons and washed food dye over the top. We have studied the famous artist, Kandinsky, and created various paintings based on his works. We literally have become serious artists! Look out for some of the creations we will be sending home soon.

Year 3 and 4 - The Year 3 and 4 students have built an armature using recycled bits and pieces. They used a lot of trial and error and their construction skills developed well. We are now 'Modroc-ing' over the top. Modroc is sheets of thin plaster that we wet and place over the armature to create a hard shell. It hasn't been nearly as messy as it sounds!

Year 5 and 6 - The Year 5 and 6 students have been very busy in art. In fact we have been working on 4 different projects at once....eeek! We are making a painted tube mobile for the foyer, where the students need to paint layers to create a colourful effect. They are starting a 'string art' project where we will use nails and string. We are also starting to mosaic some stepping stones for the Euroa Community Garden and paint the poles near the playground. It has been a bit frantic and I haven't had a chance to get photos, but we are looking forward to revealing our projects soon.

Euroa Community Action Group - Yiro Garden

We have started to make art for the Euroa Community Garden. We have some volunteers painting some mini houses. They are really starting to look great. Looking forward to showing you the finished product.

Painting the poles near the playground - The Year 5 and 6 students have painted the poles near the playground in Aimee McCartney style paintings. Have you seen them yet??

RECYCLED MATERIALS - I am always on the look out for recycled materials for art. There is a fantastic project I'd like to do using cardboard tubes. If you have any, please send them to school. I'm thinking they might come from the middle of glad wrap and aluminium foil. We can't use toilet rolls.

Have a great week.
