Mini Olympics

Parkdale Primary School invites the school community to come together for our major fundraiser of 2024, taking place on Friday 2nd August. Our Mini Olympics will take place alongside the real event in Paris and the focus of this day will be on having fun and spending time with their peers. The day will start with an official opening ceremony, a couple of special performances and from here children will be invited to participate in a range of activities such as bean bag archery, running races, golden child (basketball game), penalty shots (soccer). They will also have the chance to run / walk a few laps to help raise funds for our school.

Children will participate in this activity as part of their class and will be encouraged to dress up in the colours of the country their class has been assigned. At the conclusion, children will enjoy a snack (TBC). Parents are invited to watch so look out for a timetable of events closer to the day.

Our goal is to raise funds that will assist the Parkdale Primary Parents Association purchase two new water bubble stations for the school that will be placed in prominent positions for children to use. The cost of this project is $17,600 and all funds raised will help offset the costs.

There will be some prizes up for grabs throughout the day for participation and students who raise $5 or more will be entered into a draw for their chance to win an additional prize (one entry per child). Multiple prizes on offer.

A sponsorship sheet has been sent home with students today to be used to collect sponsors.  We encourage children to collect donations from family and friends who will sponsor them an amount of money to participate in the day’s activities.

We do not encourage them to door knock or approach strangers for donations.  We ask that all sheets and money are returned to school by Thursday 1st August to enable prize draws to take place on Friday 2nd August at Assembly. Payment should be made via QKR (one payment per child) and sheets should be returned to your child’s class teacher.

The day is all about participation and getting into the Olympic spirit. All children will participate regardless of any fundraising which is an optional part of the day.
