Refugee Week

The Refugee Week theme this year is Finding Freedom: Family.  This theme “encapsulates the profound journey of resilience, strength and unity that defines the refugee experience” and “invites us to explore the stories of refugees who, despite the challenges they encounter, discover a source of freedom within the embrace of their families” https://www.refugeeweek.org.au/theme/.

Each year a new theme is selected to raise awareness of issues experienced by refugees. The Kildare Campus Library display for Refugee Week featured some of the resources from the Library collection about refugees to complement activities throughout the school.

Ebooks and audiobooks available to students: Sora

Ebooks and audiobooks are available on every students’ laptop, to borrow anytime. Sora is the student reading app and one way to access it is through the St Joseph’s College Library catalogue. To get to the Library catalogue students can:

  1. Go to Compass.
  2. Click on “School Favourites” (star icon on top toolbar).
  3. Scroll down to “Library Catalogue”.
  4. Click on “Reading Room Board” (under “Quick Links” top left of screen).
  5. Click on Sora and follow the instructions.

Through Sora students can borrow and open books with one tap to read anywhere at any time, adjust font size and page colour to be more readable, and access collections including the 2024 CBCA shortlisted books, just to name a few features.  The app can also be downloaded free through the app store.
