Snapshots from Springvale Campus

Can you believe that we have reached the end of Term 2 already! As we always do at this time of the year, we held three-way conferences this week, during which the students, their parents (or carers) and their teachers got together to celebrate Semester 1 successes and share some learning goals for the second part of the year. It was wonderful to see so many families attend. There were plenty of proud smiles all around!

Last week we celebrated Refugee Week. Some of the members of our school community spoke to the students on both campuses about their journey to Australia and their refugee experiences. The students learnt about the challenges that refugees face and the little and big things that helped them build a new life in a different country. This generated lots of thoughtful questions and discussions. We would like to take this opportunity to once again thank everyone for sharing their time and for providing such an authentic learning experience for our students.

As we approach the holidays I encourage all the families to revisit the topic of online safety. With a little bit more free time on our hands and the cold weather outside, it is likely that we will all spend a little bit more time on our devices. Please remember that the internet is an amazing place full of fun games, cool videos and lots of interesting things to learn, but just like in the real world, it's important to stay safe. Please remember to:

  • Be smart with personal information.
  • Only talk with people you know in real life.
  • Be kind and respectful (think before you type or share) and report any unkind things to an adult.
  • Talk to your parents before downloading new games/apps or if something online is making you feel uncomfortable.
  • Learn to log off and take breaks (play outside or read a book to give your eyes and brain a break.)

I wish you all a relaxing, enjoyable and safe holiday break. I hope it is filled with joy, laughter and lots of fun memories. We look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed and ready for another productive term ahead on Tuesday the 16th of July.

Take care!
