Dear Families,
Thank you to everyone for such a great start to the school term. The students have all come back ready to learn and have been engaged in their learning so far. We have a few exciting events happening this term, so please be sure to read the Learning and Teaching section of our newsletter.
PRAYER SPACE
As a staff, we have been participating in an exercise called Breath as Prayer by Jennifer Tucker before each staff meeting. This is an extension to the mindful breathing that we have all participate as a school at the end of every lunch and recess. You might like to try this at home also. Find a quiet space, read the Scripture passage, take some time to reflect on the passage then follow the breathing words as you inhale and exhale.
Term Dates
Due to some parent feedback, which is something we always value, we have brought back the dates for the term page. With this in mind, sometimes there are changes, so please be sure to continue checking the live calendar on Audiri. When there are changes made, we will be sure to notify everyone on Audiri also.
School Uniform
The cold weather has well and truly settled in, and we are finding that the mornings in particular are extremely icy. Although we understand that Melbourne's weather is unpredictable, and at times it may be warm enough for the Summer uniform or shorts to be worn, we do encourage students to be in the correct winter uniform for these cold days. We also remind children that acceptable jewellery includes stud earrings and small hoop sleepers worn in the ears, necklaces with crucifixes or religious medallions and watches. We have had students arriving wearing lots of bangles, which is not part of our school uniform. We thank you for your cooperation.
Cook Book
Last year we began collecting recipes for our very own school cookbook made up of our favourite dishes. We are once again calling out for recipes so that we can complete our cookbook and then get it ready to be sold at our Parish Fete in November. As you are aware, our students are participating in learning about History and it would be great if we could include some recipes in our cookbook that bring us back to our own childhood! I know that whenever I think of my nonna, I remember her cooking us bread that had been soaked in homemade pasta sauce and whisked egg and then shallow fried. It was so delicious! If you would like to send in a favourite recipe, please use the following link to do that. All recipes must be in by: 9th August
Year 4 Camp Information Evening
Thank you to our year 4 parents who attended the camp information evening last night. It was great to feel the excitement from our students. We are looking forward to it!
WELCOME OSH CLUB
Osh Club has officially started as our before and after school care provider. The students have been enjoying the wide range of activities that have been provided. We are looking forward to OSH club assisting with our 100 days of prep coming up on Friday and we thank them for providing our students with some fun activities in the afternoon as well as providing coffee for our prep parents in the morning.
