Congratulations to all the 4/5/6 learners on a fantastic Term 2! Your motivation, persistence, and positive attitudes have truly paid off.

This term, we focused on effective additive strategies, applying them to perimeter problems, and used mapping and grid referencing in a tough Battleship tournament. We powered up our writing with adjectives and adverbs, creating engaging informative texts about different countries.

Our research project on connection was a highlight, exploring Aboriginal perspectives of land and the diverse landscapes of Australia and other countries. Additionally, we delved into learning about different faiths such as Judaism, Islam, and their connections to Christianity. Understanding these connections broadened our perspectives and enriched our cultural understanding.

The term concluded in a spectacular Olympic Day, planned and led by our 4/5/6 leaders, showcasing their leadership and uniting the whole school. Well done, everyone!

Literacy

Over the last two weeks, the 4/5/6 learners have shown some of their best focus on writing and presenting the information they have collected on their chosen countries. They have showcased their ability to plan and write cohesive information reports, complete with subheadings, topic sentences, and supporting details enhanced with adjectives.

Their creativity continues to shine in everything they do. Some learners chose to create posters, some used a green screen to produce news reports, while others presented their information in engaging flip books or dioramas.

Connection: Research Project

Well, if you haven't heard about the Olympic Day that has been in planning over the last two weeks, I would be very surprised! I threw this idea at the 4/5/6s roughly two weeks ago, and in true fashion, they took it and ran with it! A true credit to their passion for St Joseph's, they prepared an exciting, effective, and fun morning for the whole school!

For our mini Olympics, we had a bean bag toss, cup flip, obstacle course, and tennis cannon activity, all of which were prepared by the 4/5/6 learners and ran smoothly by them. It showcased their growing leadership abilities, and I am incredibly proud of how well they managed each group!

Special shout out to Team Australia, who took away the win. Hopefully, it's a sign of great things to come for our Aussie Olympians in Paris!

Curiosity and Change

Curiosity and Change will be our theme for next term, with our learning focused on history. History is all about being curious and observing how things have changed over time. During Week 2, we will be traveling to the Immigration Museum to take part in a historical experience titled "Many Stories."

In preparation for this, over the holidays, I invite you to think about an object that tells a story about your life. This could be a family heirloom that has been passed down through generations or a souvenir from a family trip. Consider how this object connects to your personal history and the changes it represents.

Remember, small object, big story!

After another busy term, I hope you all take these next couple of weeks to catch your breath, spend time in nature, and enjoy being with the people who make you happy! I'm already excited to hear about all the amazing things you get up to.
