What a great term 2 we’ve had!
As we head towards another term holiday, I wanted to take a moment to reflect and be grateful for all the wonderful achievements of our students and staff this term. We have had Year 6 camp to Canberra and Year 3 camp to Mt Eliza, the Year 2-4 swimming program, Junior Mayor Elections, the Colour Run, the Australian Dental Van visit, Year 3-6 cross country carnival, Year 10 and 11 work experience students from our local secondary schools, school progress reports and parent teacher conferences. No wonder we all need a well-earned break!
Thank you to everyone who organised and participated in these events to make Kingswood such a wonderful place to shine.
Positive Behaviour Flowchart Student Focus Groups
It has been a pleasure to work with three of our positive behaviour school leaders, Sarenya, Raechel and Aeuri, to consult with students from years 2-6 about what they think minor and major behaviours might be within the classroom and playground and what appropriate adult responses to these behaviours might be.
These young leaders also ran the same activity with our parent association and they will now report to our school council next term.
Year 5 PLAY Leaders
This term has seen a great uptake of Prep and Year 1 students on Monday and Wednesday lunchtimes joining in with organised activities with our PLAY Leaders. They have practised turn taking, rule following and sharing through organised games such as Sharks, Beans and What’s the time Mr Wolf. Our Year 5 students have consistently modelled our school values and expected behaviours and we look forward to even more participants next term.
School Holiday Programs – The I CAN network
I CAN Network is Australia’s largest Autistic led organisation. I CAN provides group mentoring to autistic young people through school and online programs that celebrate autistic strengths, passions and expression. Participants develop a stronger sense of self-acceptance, confidence, optimism and belonging.
These holidays they are offering a Play Minecraft program for students aged 6-12. Please click the link below or refer to flyer to find out more:

Little to no expense ways to keep children entertained in the school holidays
It is important in the school holidays to set limits around technology use at home. Police report that there is an increase in cyber bullying type behaviour during holiday periods as children spend more time unsupervised on their personal devices.
Why not try:
Baking cookies
Having children help prepare their meals and snacks for the day
Going to the park to play
Creating a treasure hunt
Reading a book together
Doing an act of kindness for someone else in the family each day
Building a cubby house for a home movie night
Playing card or board games
Doing a jigsaw puzzle
I wish you and your families a happy and safe holiday and we’ll see you back for term 3.
