Artist of the Week

Each week we celebrate the work of enthusiastic artists:

Tiana Nguyen 8A

Congratulations to Tiana Nguyen of 8A who was selected as last weeks’ KSC Artist of the Week. Tiana was nominated for Artist of the Week by class VCD teacher, Ms McLellan. Tiana completed this design work as part of her studies in Visual Communication Design as Class Assessment Task of for 2pt perspective.

Please read what Tiana has written to describe her art piece:

This is my two-point perspective drawing of a flooded bathroom. The bathroom itself is based off of my actual bathroom, and the flooding aspect was inspired by one of the pages in the book 'In a Minute' by Beth Shoshan, as I really loved that book when I was younger.

The room is quite brightly lit up as the main light source is coming from a big window above the mirror. There’s water pouring from the bath, shower, sinks, and toilet, and I used different purples and blues in the water to bring out some of the childlike whimsy that I experienced when I was a kid reading the book, and for just some general pop of colour which connects each puddle and brings more attention to them. I also decided not to go over in fine liner on the piece so that it maintained some of the softness of the grey-lead, for the same reasons why I used the purple and blues.

Georgette Joughin 8C

Congratulations to Georgette  who has been selected as this weeks’ KSC Artist of the Week. Georgette was nominated for Artist of the Week by class VCD teacher, Ms Amvrazis, and completed this design work as part of her studies in Visual Communication Design as Class Assessment Task of one point perspective.

Please read what Georgette has written to describe her art piece.

I have chosen to draw a street of Gion, Kyoto as I have been in the past and found it to be beautiful. I made this piece using gouache and watercolour pencils to show the deep shadows and bright colours. Painting the majority at home, I worked hard to make this piece look the best I could.
