Message from the Principal

It is a busy time at Preston High School as we enter June. Student-led activities for National Reconciliation Week launched this month, and we are now in the thick of Arts Week, with concerts and arts activities giving our young people an opportunity to flourish.
The General Achievement Test (GAT) is coming up on Tuesday (18 June) for all of our students in the Ada program who are undertaking a Unit 3/4 study. Split across two exams from 9am to 3pm, the GAT is an important statewide assessment that assists students in their attainment of their certificate at the end of the year. A reminder that this day is a pupil free day for all Cohorts.
The School Council, with thanks to treasurer Darren Findlow, has recently held consultations with the community about road safety in our local area. This was undertaken in anticipation of Darebin Council’s Your Streets Your Say (YSYS) program opening for our area of the municipality. Based on this community feedback, we have submitted to the Darebin Council some proposals around traffic flow, parking and pedestrian crossing management on each of the three street-frontages of the school. We will keep you updated when the YSYS consultation rolls out to the community.
Relatedly, the student-led Green Team would like to invite you to complete a survey on active transport in our area. If you have a moment please complete the survey here: https://forms.office.com/r/TMihbH3xQX
Congratulations to all our Term 2 sporting teams who have represented the school so well! And, a big thank you to all the staff who have supported students with Arts Week activities.
