S.T.E.A.M.

Science Technology Engineering Arts Maths

It has been a fun filled fortnight in S.T.E.A.M.!

The Preps, Grade Ones and Grade Twos explored another complimentary text to Astro GirlOn the Launch Pad. They looked at the steps scientists, engineers and astronauts take to prepare for the launch of a space shuttle. They then put this learning into practice by becoming astronauts and going on their very own space mission.

The Grade Threes and Grade Fours got creative and began designing and making space board games with the aim of showcasing their scientific knowledge and understanding about space.

The Grade Fives looked at the concept of jet propulsion and how it can be used to launch rockets. They conducted an experiment in which they created an origami rocket and a paper pocket rocket and compared the jet propulsion methods of using a drinking straw and their breath and different sized bottles of air to launch their rockets. They also conducted a tea bag rocket experiment, began creating pages for a book about space for their Grade One buddies and participated in a Lego food making challenge.
