Term 2 Puppets

As part of our Drama curriculum this term we are exploring characterisation and movement using puppets. Different ages are using a range of puppet styles and dramatic play to retell and create stories with use of voice, movement, improvisation, scripts, timing and teamwork.

PREPS - ONES- TWOS are using soft hand puppets and making stick puppets.

GRADE THREE & FOUR  are creating hand shadow puppets and using Readers Theatre scripts.

GRADE FIVE are making Brown paper puppets and finger puppets.

GRADE SIX are making Marionette puppets using recycled materials.

Shrek Jr Production - June 21-23

4 weeks to go! The students are working through the scenes in sequence now so they are learning more about their movements on and off the stage. The set is looking magnificent and the costumes are being finalised. We can't wait to show you!

Upcoming Dress rehearsals (full cast and crew required):

Tues June 11 Curriculum day 9-3:30pm 

Sunday 16 June 1-5pm

Tuesday 18 June 12:30-3pm (in school hours)

Thursday 20 June 10-1pm (in school hours)

Performances:

Friday 21 June at 6:30pm

Saturday 22 June at 5pm

Sunday 23 June at 1:30pm

An email will go out this week asking for volunteers for Dress Rehearsals and Performance nights. Stay tuned. Thanks to all the Parent/Grandparent/Carer hands on deck at the moment with costumes, props and set design. Your time and creativity is really so appreciated. 

Please support your child/ren to practise song lyrics and Emerald/Jade parts. We are up to stage position plotting and choreography which is made much easier for kids if they are confident with lyrics. Grabbing 10 mins in the car on an ipad, waiting for sports training, whilst dinner is cooking etc can really make a difference.  

The SHREK PRODUCTION FOLDER includes soundtracks and choreography videos for students to practise at home.
