Division Cross Country
Last Friday we had a team of 10 athletes compete at the Portland/Hamilton/Warrnambool Division Cross Country in Warrnambool. Our students performed very well against high-quality opposition on a rather challenging course with the following results achieved:
- Alaska (10 Year Girls) – 1st
- Georgia (10 Year Girls) – 13th
- Sophie (10 Year Girls) – 16th
- Connor (11 Year Boys) – 20th
- Archie (11 Year Boys) – 23rd
- Henry (11 Year Boys) – 25th
- Tilly (11 Year Girls) – 39th
- Manaia (12 Year Boys) – 1st
- Cooper (12 Year Boys) – 36th
- Kobe (12 Year Boys) – 43rd
Congratulations to each of these students on their results, an outstanding effort just to make it to this higher level of competition!
Children who finished in the top 12 have now qualified for the Regional Cross Country Championships that will take place over the same course in Warrnambool on Monday of next week. In amazing performances Manaia and Alaska both finished first in their age groups and will compete in this event on Monday of next week. We wish them both well at this next level of competition!
Hot Food Lunch
It was great to be able to offer a ‘Hot Food Lunch’ today for our students. Thanks to Leesa for organising this along with Danielle Hobbs for cooking the BBQ, with grade 6 students assisting with packing and distributing lunches. Funds raised from our occasional lunch offers throughout terms 2 and 3 will go towards funding our end of year ‘Grade 6 Big Day Out’ celebrating the end of their primary school education with us at Gray Street Primary.
Curriculum (Pupil Free) Day
Our next curriculum day will take place on Friday 7th June and no students are to attend school on this day. Staff will spend the day completing assessment and reporting requirements in readiness for the distribution of semester 1 student reports.
School Beanies
With the cooler months now upon us, students are no longer required to wear their broad-brimmed hat when outside, but may instead wear one of our school design beanies. These beanies may be purchased from the school office and are available for $20.00 As per our Student Dress Code Policy, students may only wear a school design, or a plain navy beanie (not available from school) when outside during terms 2 and 3.
Have a great weekend!
