Year 10 Elevate Education Study Session

In preparation for their upcoming exams, our Year 10 students took part in an Elevate Education Study Seminar on Friday 17 May during Periods 3 & 4.

This seminar covered:

  • Utilising the syllabus to frame study
  • Structuring and reviewing organised notes
  • Conceptual learning to develop deep understanding
  • Utilising practice exam papers
  • Standing out through independent learning

The feedback from students was overwhelmingly positive and we hope they can effectively utilise the strategies to assist in their exam preparation.

In the Study Sensei seminar, the presenter demonstrated how to make a page of notes using trigger words, or words that bring back a lot of memories. When you write using trigger words, not only do you end up writing a lot less, but you also remember more from the notes as trigger words bring back a lot of memories. This can help save time and make it easier to remember things when it comes to studying for a test or exam.

The presenter also showed how to create a mind-map using a set of notes. Mind maps are an effective way to take five pages of notes and condense them down to one page – this makes them easier to memorise, and helps you understand how things on different pages of notes tie together.

The attached document contains some further advice on how to utilise these techniques, which may be of assistance in studying for exams.

Year 11 Formal - Student Report & Photos

On May 10, the Year 11s had the opportunity to participate in the Year 11 Formal.  Ms Barresi, the Year 11 Captains and the the Year 11 coordinators worked extensively to organise a fantastic night, being a wonderfully entertaining and engaging evening.

The formal was a great opportunity for students to present themselves in a sophisticated setting, with this being many students’ first time experiencing such an event. Some of the highlights included the photobooth, the DJ’s tunes, drawing everyone to the dance floor, and the incredible food.

Students left with high spirits by the end of the night, the evening showing as a success. We hope everyone involved had a lovely time spending time with friends and dressing up in a new environment and look forward to seeing everyone at next year's formal.
