From The Principal

Ms Noelene Hussey

Dear Families,

We eagerly await the Confirmation ceremony for our Year 6 children this coming Sunday. When the Bishop lays his hands over our children and then seals them with holy oil they will be confirmed with the Holy Spirit. The theme of the celebration was a quote from St Catherine of Siena ‘Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire’  We hope our children can be guided by the Holy Spirit to be courageous, be wise, be understanding, and show right judgement, thus living out this powerful message from St Catherine.

I would like to express my gratitude to our dedicated teachers Katie Pollard, Monique McIntyre, Alison Brochert - Krohn, Rylee Connell and Justin Cleur for their effort in preparing our children. Special appreciation goes to Cath Woodhouse, our Religious Education Leader for overseeing the program. Thank you to Bishop Terry Curtin, Fr Denis Stanley, and the Parish altar servers who will be celebrating this significant celebration with us.

To our families, I extend sincere thanks for your unwavering support and guidance in assisting your children throughout their preparation for Confirmation. Your involvement has been invaluable.

Congratulations to Ben Kirkby who represented St Anne’s at the Annual Rotary Spelling Bee last week. We are incredibly proud of his dedication and hard work, successfully spelling challenging words such as 'acquisition'.  Ben’s commitment to preparing and learning the correct spelling of the words on his list truly shone through. Well Done Ben!

I’m thrilled to extend my congratulations to our children for their remarkable victory in the Cross Country Championship last Friday. Their achievement was amazing, demonstrating exceptional determination and persistence throughout the challenging 2 or 3 km course. Despite the muddy track adding to the difficulty, they persevered and our school won the shield!

Positive Behaviour For Learning - PBL

Our focus has been showing respect to others. We have also encouraged our children to show their manners by greeting one another. I have been very impressed with our children who have greeted me when on yard duty and said hello, how are you or have a good day. This is an impressive quality to have as greetings are the foundation of social interactions. Greetings serve as a positive first impression and hold the key to building strong relationships. When we greet one another we begin to establish rapport, show respect and create meaningful connections with others.

We will continue in promoting the practice of our children greeting adults and friends. At home you can foster the habit of your children greeting  family members, neighbours or friends.  By collaborating, we can nurture our children’s ability to be respectful and compassionate in all situations.

May God bless you and take care
