Kokoda Trail

Year 10 Kokoda Excursion

On Wednesday 24th April, all Year 10 students visited the Kokoda Track Memorial Walk in the Dandenong Ranges National Park to experience walking up the 1000 steps, which the veterans of the Kokoda campaign felt were similar to the 'Golden Staircase' in Papua New Guinea. They participated in an ANZAC service and an educational session on the Kokoda campaign led by a Parks Victoria Educational Officer, and enjoyed a delicious sausage sizzle lunch prepared by their teachers. The purpose of the day is to expose students to a physical challenge, whilst interacting with their peers, enjoying the beauty of a National Park, and learning about a significant period in Australia's history.

Students should be congratulated for their enthusiastic participation on the day, where they embraced the challenge of the 1000 steps, despite the rain. We hope they enjoyed it as much as we did!
