This week we went on an adventure to the Warrnambool Botanical Gardens. Although a little cold at times, the sun came out for us and we were able to explore the gardens. We most enjoyed seeing the Bats, walking over the bridge and playing on the nature playground. Thanks to the parents who came along to help out!

Year 1

There have been many extra activities these past few weeks for our Year 1 students to enjoy. Besides looking very smart for their school photos last week, the children joined the National Simultaneous Storytime and listened to the story Bowerbird Blues. Afterwards they created their own Bowerbirds and discussed what they might like to collect. These pictures will be displayed in the Library. The children also took part in the Junior School Assembly, playing the xylophones like well-practiced and confident musicians. As part of National Reconciliation Week, the Year 1’s enjoyed painting their hands to create posters for the classroom as a display of unity.

Year 2

The Year 2's have been working hard on developing their ICT skills. Students have been practicing how to research on a computer as part of our Humanities topic, Our Wonderful World. This week, each student chose a country and spent some time researching it and gathering their information. We are also in the process of developing some letters and booklets that will be sent over to Uganda to help students there learn about us and our Australian culture. We are looking forward to finishing up these projects!

Chance & Data has been the focus of our Maths lessons this week. We have been playing games to learn this concept, as when it is up to chance, we can’t know the outcome in advance!

Last week, we practised our money skills and found that giving change can be tricky! We are going to continue practicing these skills at home to help us consolidate this skill, as there are less and less opportunities to practice counting change in our everyday lives now!

We also celebrated National Simultaneous Storytime last week and listened to Bowerbird Blues being read with the rest of the nation. We learnt so many things about the amazing Bowerbird and then did a guided drawing session, drawing a Bowerbird. Check these pictures out!

Year 6

Year 6 went on their four night camp last week to Phillip Island. We had an amazing time and recieved a lot of compliments about how well behaved and mannered our students were. They certainly represented King's College well. We hope you enjoy these poems that the students have written about camp, and the photos below showing what we did.
