VISUAL ARTS

This Term we started with a bit of bucket drumming (thanks to Bunnings generously donating a class set of buckets) and although it was loud we had a great time making lots of noise while trying to keep time and create rhythm patterns.

Students quickly chose their favourite songs to play along to. We Will Rock You and Seven Nation Army were very popular.

Since we began bucket drumming in Term 1 and completed the unit in the first weeks of Term 2 we then moved onto drama activities..

Years 3-6 are practising theatre games where we are learning improvisation skills. Through improvisation we can develop trust, risk-taking, collaboration and comprimise as students create drama together. The students are really enjoying the sessions and are eager to perform for their peers. This will lead to a class performance before the end of the term.

Foundation-2 have been also looking at improvisation in drama however they have been using puppets to act out role-plays. They have also been learning how to manipulate puppets.

Years 1-2 have also been trying out a few of the Theatre Games to help with their performance.

Meanwhile, we are still singing and dancing up a storm each week. Sometimes the students are so energetic I fear the whiteboard will fall off the wall!!

PERFORMING ARTS

Foundation students documented the changing of the seasons with their Autumn Tree paintings. Students looked at the colours of the leaves and used textured sponges to add on the warm colours of their leaves.

1/2s looked at Andy Warhol and his famous pop art. Using more unknown artwork “Flowers” as inspiration they created these flower works with paint and paper.

3/4s have been looking at Alma Thomas and created these colourful Landscapes.

5/6s have discovered their passion for nature, creating these pot plant artworks with watercolour paints and oil pastels.
