Principal's Update

Principal: Milan Matejin

Good Afternoon,

As we wrap up this term, we want to celebrate the hard work, creativity, and accomplishments from everyone. It’s been a busy few months, filled with great achievements both inside and outside the classroom, with lots more to come in Term 2.

Parent and Teacher Interviews

On Thursday, 27th March, our Parent and Teacher Interviews were held. The statistics show that the event was well attended, with families visiting and speaking with most of their child’s teachers. Based on feedback and conversations with parents on the night, all parents found the time to be rewarding. Many gained a better understanding of their child's learning progress, behaviour, and effort. Unfortunately, some teachers were unavailable due to illness or other commitments on that Thursday. I encourage parents and carers who did not have the opportunity to speak with these teachers to contact them by email to inquire about their child's progress.

I was pleased to see so many parents and students attend the Parent and Teacher Interviews last Thursday. This reinforces a positive community that fosters strong partnerships between the school and home. It is a great opportunity to demonstrate to your child the importance of education and the commitment of parents. I am also aware that the scheduled times did not suit everyone, and some parents missed the chance to meet with their child’s teachers for various reasons. After all, we all want the best outcomes for our students.

Foundation Day 2025

Today, we held our annual Foundation Day celebrations at the Williamstown Town Hall. A big thank you to Ms. Hatzikosmidis and her team of dedicated staff and parent helpers, who brought together the many students who participated in this morning’s performance. Following this morning’s concert at Williamstown Town Hall, all students across the College attended the Williamstown Campus for lunch and a variety of activities across the two ovals. It was a wonderful opportunity to bring students from all three sites together at Williamstown.

Staff Movement

Term Two will see some staffing changes. Sarah Hardiman will be on leave for the term and will return in Term Three. Unfortunately, Varghese Thomas has found a school closer to home, and the long drive to Bayside College will end at the close of this term. We wish him all the best in his new school.

College Open Day – Week 2, Term 2

We are excited to invite prospective families to our College Open Day in Week 2 of Term 2.

This is an opportunity for families to explore what our College has to offer. For your convenience, we will offer transport between our two campuses on the scheduled dates.

Bookings are essential and can be made via our website: www.bayside.vic.edu.au.

If you know any families with children starting Prep in 2026 or Year 7, please share this information with them.

Holiday Break

Wishing all our families and staff a safe holiday period. The first week back in Term 2 includes a public holiday on Monday (Easter Monday – 22nd April) and a public holiday on Friday (Anzac Day – 25th April), resulting in a 3-day week.

Be sure to check the Community News for local school holiday activities and take note of important date updates. Information regarding Athletics Day on 24th April can be found there.

I look forward to welcoming you back on site on Tuesday, 22nd April.

Kind Regards,

Mr Matejin
