Principal's Report

As always there has been a range of events happening across the school over the last couple of weeks. A range of student events, academic testing and the opening of our new library are some of the highlights that we are thrilled to share with the community.
Athletics Carnival & Community Day
This year we had the perfect weather for our Athletics Day (in contrast to last year). As always, it was great to see our students participating in a wide range of track and field events throughout the day. It was also great to see the level of encouragement and House pride demonstrated by our students.
Thank you to all staff who contributed to the smooth running on the day. Particularly George Bouios and Jason Louey (Directors of Sport), who did a great job in preparing for and coordinating the day.
Community Day was organised and coordinated by our SRC and Student Leadership Team and focused on recognising and celebrating the diversity and harmony within our school community. Student leaders did an excellent job of coordinating a wide range of activities during lunchtime which resulted in a high level of engagement from many students.
Well done to all of the students involved in the running of the day, as well as Michael Gekas (Director of Student Leadership).
Both events provided the whole school community with great opportunities to connect and engage with each other in meaningful ways outside of the classroom.
NAPLAN
Over the last two weeks, our Year 7 and 9 students have undertaken their NAPLAN testing online. I would like to acknowledge the effort that our students put into this testing.
I would also like to thank all of our staff who were involved in administering the tests and supporting our students in working through each test to the best of their ability.
A special mention to Danielle Mortimer (Director of Teaching and Learning) for all of her organisational work behind the scenes.
Whilst individualised results to students and parents won’t be released for some time, some initial whole school data will be analysed by our staff and will be used to continue to be responsive and tailor our teaching and learning programs to the needs of our students.
Learning Conferences
A reminder that Learning Conferences will be held on Wednesday the 26th of March from 12:00 noon to 8:00pm. This will be our first face-to-face Learning Conferences for a number of years.
We look forward to welcoming parents/carers back onsite and continuing to build on the all so important home-school partnership.
Please note that the progress reports that will be discussed no longer report on Work Habits. These have been replaced with Learning Behaviours that have been developed in response to parent, student and teacher forums in 2024. Your child’s teachers will be able to expand on these in more detail.
A reminder that this is also a student free day and the school will not be providing supervision for students as there are no scheduled classes on this day.
We look forward to this opportunity to meet to discuss your child's learning and wellbeing.
Library Opening
Our newly renovated Library is now officially open after a special event last Thursday which was attended by students, staff and invited guests that have played a role in its conception and realization.
A huge thank you to everyone involved in ensuring the event was a success.
We are now very excited to welcome students into the Library's new and dynamic space that has been designed to promote learning and connectedness.
Breakfast Club
Our Wellbeing Team are now working in collaboration with Food Bank to provide all of our students with a Breakfast Club each Wednesday morning. This is held in the Eastern Courtyard (between G-Block and C-Block) from 8.00am – 8.30am. Some of the offerings include toasted cheese sandwiches, and a range of cereals and fruit. There is no cost for any of these items. Not only is this a great opportunity to get some energy for the day, it’s also a great opportunity to for students to catch up and connect with their peers prior to the school day starting.
Thank you to all of our Wellbeing staff who have contributed to getting this great initiative up and running!
