CLEVER CLASS
During Term 1, all music classes have begun the year exploring music from Brazil, after Mrs K did a great Summer School course with a visiting educator from South America. We have been learning to play the spoons, creating the “sea” and dancing with coloured cloths, and mastering complicated drumming patterns, all while singing in Portuguese!
We also have four “echo cellos” on loan from TOSA for Term 1. These home-made instruments provide students with an excellent introduction to playing stringed instruments. Many students in grades 5 and 6 have eagerly embraced this challenge, and they sound great with our marimbas and djembe drums.
Grade 6 have also been using online platforms to learn about digital audio interfaces and brush up on their music literacy skills.
Meanwhile, Kindergarten students have had a fantastic start to the year, they especially love playing along to their favourite songs on the boomwhackers.
We look forward to showcasing some of these exciting activities at future assemblies and school events.
