WowWee, can you believe it? We only have one week of first term left! It seems like such a short time ago that we were all making our way back to start the school year. There have been some very hot days, some windy days and because it is Melbourne and it’s summer: some rainy ones! Our foundation students arrived at the beginning of term with some of them not so sure of where things were or when they would next get to eat something from their lunchboxes. They have grown in their independence and their understanding of where their special place in our school lies. As I have been touring prospective 2026 families they have remarked on how settled and engaged our foundations students appear. Our foundation students have been joining us for assembly and it is so lovely to see them paying close attention to all that happens in our assemblies.
School Cross Country
On Tuesday we held our school cross country carnival, and it was a huge success. A big thank you to Sarah Van once again for all the work that she put into the preparation and the delivery of this event. We are very grateful for the support of parents on the day. Without parents volunteering their time, events like these are impossible to run and we know how fortunate we are to have the help every time we hold events.
Leadership Update
As I shared earlier in the week to all families, I will be remaining in the Acting Principal role for the period of David Foley’s absence.
Walkathon
Next Tuesday is our annual Walkathon. Students have been making their banners and working on class chants. There will be awards for classes in our school values categories and the class that wins the Best Banner award will be treated to a sausage sizzle lunch with me early in Term 2. Thanks to Darren who will be the sausage sizzler. Thank you to the families that have volunteered to help with the event on the day as this helps it to run smoothly.
Next week we will have our usual assembly on Monday morning as well as a brief last day assembly on Friday commencing at 2:15pm. During this assembly the year 1/ 2 students will be performing for us, and we are looking forward to that. Students in year 1-6 will be dismissed from the court at 2:30pm. Foundation students will be escorted to their classrooms by their teachers where they can be collected. We extend a warm welcome to you all to join us on both occasions.
Wishing you a relaxing weekend in between basketball games, footy practice, dance classes, birthday parties, grocery shopping, cooking meals, responding to ‘I’m bored!!
Can I have a friend over to play?” and all those things that make a weekend a real weekend!
