INTERVIEW WITH MR REX  – LEARNING LEADER FOR PERFORMING ARTS - MUSIC

In this music segment, I will be interviewing Mr Tim Rex, a new music teacher here at Wheelers Hill Secondary College! It is a privilege to have Mr Rex here at Wheelers Hill, as he is very experienced, and has a very vibrant personality! We wish Mr Rex the best time here,  we are thrilled to have you as a teacher!

 

Q1.  What instrument/s do you play?

Response: Started on Trumpet in year 8, swapped to trombone, now I also play tuba, double bass, and electric bass on gigs, as well as some piano, drums and guitar.

 

Q2. What got you into music?

Response: My mother used to play, so there was a trumpet in the house. School put out a ‘come and learn’ ad in the newsletter, I figured I’d give it a go.

 

Q3. What is the biggest venue you’ve performed at?

Response: I have performed at the MCG with a brass band I am in as part of the Geelong Football Club Pregame entertainment.

 

Q4. What inspired you to become a teacher?

Response: To pass on everything that I have been fortunate enough to learn.

 

Q5. Where did you study music?I studied at James Morrison Academy of Music in Response: Mount Gambier, where I was fortunate enough to learn from some of the worlds’ finest musicians.

 

Q6. What advice do you have for aspiring musicians?

Response: Keep going, don’t give up, and remember to have fun with it.
