Special events reflection:
What a wonderful day we had in Prep for Teddy Bear Day! Everyone brought along their favourite teddy and spent the day sharing learning, working together, and having loads of fun. We teamed up to build bridges between chairs using just sticky tape. There was lots of problem-solving and teamwork on display! The teddies were great helpers too. We also decorated teddy bear cookies, and finished the day with a lovely picnic with our families. It was a fun-filled day full of creativity, cooperation, and smiles all round! We then celebrated the end of term with our wonderful Happy Hat Parade! To wrap up the term, our whole school came together for a joyful themed concert! Students wore their wonderfully creative hats and sang and danced to their song on stage! A big well done to all of our talented performers!
Literacy:
In Word Work this week, our students have been making fantastic progress as they continue learning how to read and sound out words using the letters S, A, T, P, I, M, N, F, O, and G.
Another key focus has been developing students’ ability to verbalise complete sentences as clear thoughts. Using explicit instruction, we’ve been guiding students to build sentences that include a who, what, where, and when. This structured approach is helping to strengthen their oral language skills and prepare them for writing.
We’ve also been enjoying the book So Many Wonderfuls, which has sparked interest and curiosity in the classroom. As we explore the text, students have been practising their comprehension skills by participating in 'think-pair-share' discussions. These conversations encourage active listening and thoughtful responses, as students check for understanding and share their ideas with peers.
Preview - Preps will continue to verbally expand sentences by adding more detail, including when, where, who, and what. We will explore the book Off to Market and begin our Literature and Knowledge Rich unit on Australian animals, using the text Echidnas Can’t Cuddle and Sebastian Lives in a Hat. We look forward to discovering more about Australian animals in the weeks to come.
Numeracy:
In Maths this week, students have been learning about the numbers 7, 8, 9 and 10. They have been learning how to represent these numbers in many different ways and drawing collections showing each number. Students have created their own number posters and represented the number using tally marks, domino combinations, a tens frame, written word and simple number equations.

This term, students will learn about the topics of location, part-part whole, counting and place value. We will continue to revise and review the content we have learnt so far this year.
ANZAC Day:
On Thursday, the whole school came together for a special ANZAC Day ceremony. We listened to the Last Post and held a minute of silence to remember those who served. Each class had two students bring a poppy and a leaf to the front, adding to a whole-school wreath as part of the ceremony. It was a meaningful way for us all to honour and reflect on ANZAC Day.
