Primary Bulletin

Happy Easter

All Primary staff would like to take this opportunity to wish our families a wonderful and restful Easter holiday. Thank you for your continued partnership and support of the College, students, and staff. We look forward to welcoming you back to school for Term 2 on Wednesday 23 April.

Mrs McNiff will conclude her time with the College next term, with her impending Maternity Leave beginning on Monday 5 May. We are so grateful for her support of the students and school throughout her time, as she covered staff who were on various leave over the past 11 months. Taking over a classroom from an existing teacher can be challenging; however, Laura did this with care and grace. This year, the majority of her time was spent between Prep K and 1B, and I know the students and staff have appreciated her support. We wish her every happiness and look forward to sharing with you the arrival of her little one.

Student/Parent/Teacher Conferences

Thank you to all families who participated in the Pre-Prep parent/teacher interviews or student/parent/teacher conferences in Prep to Year 6. These meetings were a valuable opportunity to connect at the end of a very busy term. The purpose of these sessions was to focus on behaviours and setting goals rather than achievement. The conferences encouraged students to reflect on Term 1 and prompted conversations about how they should approach their learning looking forward. We will come together again at the beginning of Term 3 to review the goals set and reflect upon each child’s progress.

Please note the following requirement for Winter Uniform which is worn in the Primary School in Terms 2 and Term 3.

Students will visit the Fair and complete their book ‘Wish Lists’ during their Library lessons, so look out for a Wish List coming home with instructions for ordering. The Fair will be open to parents with books and stationery before and after school on Friday 9 May and Monday 12 May.

Pre-Prep to Year 1 Easter Bonnet Parade

Today the Pre-Prep to Year 1 students celebrated the start of the Easter holidays with an Easter Bonnet parade. They proudly showed off the Easter bonnets they have created at school over the last couple of weeks. Our Pre-Prep and Prep students have been singing together on a regular basis, led by Mrs Both. They delighted the audience with their song that made us all hungry for Easter eggs!

The Australian Parenting Website

Do you ever wish your child came with a support manual to guide you in your parenting journey? Raising Children Network is a wonderful website to support families. It provides articles, videos, and interactive resources on many helpful topics such as developmental milestones, behaviour, sleep, play and learning, connection and communication skills, and how to navigate media and technology with your children.

Shine to a Friend Our 5S Community Service Initiative

This year in Primary, each class has been tasked with initiating and running a community service project. Over the course of the year, we will highlight these wonderful initiatives in the Collective.

5S has started ‘Shine to a Friend’ as they wanted to set up a place for students to go if they were lonely or needed a quiet space away from the hustle and bustle of the playground. On Monday morning tea and lunchtimes, 5S will open their room to anyone who feels like making new friends.

The students, along with Mrs San Miguel, will run structured games and movement activities which encourage cross-grade interactions and communication. They have also set up a ‘zen-zone’ with quiet drawing and colouring activities outside Primary Administration. Over the few weeks that it has been running, there has been lots of laughter, smiles, and connections made.
