ITALIAN

What's happening in Italian?

Wow! Here we are at Week 10.  The students in Years 5 and 6 have been completing their unit of work on Community Workers.  They have been actively applying their learning from Italian classes by describing the location of community buildings in relation to other structures using the appropriate prepositions for locations and the names of community buildings. They demonstrated an excellent understanding of the topic and did a fantastic job!

The students in Years 3 and 4 listened to a story called 'La Colomba di Pasqua' (The Easter Dove).  The dove represents peace, love, and purity, all of which align with the themes of Easter—Jesus’ resurrection bringing hope and peace to the world.  In some cultures, doves are released during Easter celebrations as a sign of spiritual renewal and joy.  The children made their own paper doves to take home.

The students in Prep to Year 2 listened to a story called 'La Sorpresa', which was about a the Easter Egg Surprise and how Pasqualino managed to get the surprise out of the egg. They discovered that it is customary in Italy to find a surprise inside almost every Easter Egg.  Afterwards, they made an Easter card to take home or decorated an Easter egg using a number and colour code. Well done everyone!

As we approach the end of term, I would like to wish everyone a happy and holy Easter. May this time be filled with special moments with loved ones.  Enjoy the break, stay safe and see you all next term.

Buona Pasqua a tutti
