3/4 Camp Heads to Phillip Island

(14-16 October)

We are thrilled to announce that we have enough campers to go ahead with our 3/4 Camp to Phillip Island next term. Thanks to all those who have paid their deposit. Tomorrow we will send home consent forms, equipment lists and medication authority forms. Although some way off yet, we are keen to ensure we will have a wonderful time away.

Visitors Enrich Learning

We have been enriched this week by having a range of experts visit classes in support of their learning. Today the 4/5/6 Area has been visited by an author who collaborated with a range of students to write and produce a book after the tragic fires some 15 years ago. The 1/2 Learning Area will enjoy a visit from the CFA soon. Such experiences are significant opportunities to reinforce the connection between community and school.

Students Extended

Students have been pushed to the limits in the ICAS assessments with a group of 15 students challenging themselves with questions around science this week. Next week a similar assessment will explore numbers in the Mathematics Assessment. The Victorian High Achievers Program, which supports Year 5 and 6 students, continues to challenge a group of six students. They have been participating in weekly online sessions to further develop and extend their literacy skills.

FORPS Forge On

This week FORPS continued to collaborate to support students and the school. The finishing touches were made on what will be a fun Trivia Night on Saturday 31 August! Father’s and Special Others’ Day is coming up and so is the FORPS Stall scheduled for Friday 30 August. A Bunnings BBQ is another fundraiser scheduled for Saturday 7 September. Smile Squad

This week students received a small gift that will cause them to light up when they smile. The Smile Squad is a free dental program supporting families in dental hygiene. The Smile Squad team come in from Monday 2 September to do dental checkups.

Banyule Council Encourages Young Birders!

Students who have enjoyed the lorikeets that have taken up resident in the area may enjoy this special outing hosted by Banyule Council. The event will be hosted by Nangak Tamboree and is aimed to encourage children aged 9 to 12 years of age to head out and learn about local birds. Please note, adult supervision is required.
