NEWS ADMINISTRATION
Mrs Caroline Galea
This week, our students enjoyed the fun and magic of book week. Thank you to the many families that joined us on Monday for our read around, with many more families joining us on Wednesday morning for our Book Week Parade. We wish to thank our families for their continued support. It was obvious that the children really enjoyed this week, so I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Book Week Committee for their work in preparing activities for the children to enjoy. I would also like to thank Ms Maria Lontos for her guidance.
Last week, the children celebrated Science Week, with activities created that they could take part in. Thank you to Mrs Teresa Flatman for preparing the Science Week activities. This was the first time that we have celebrated Science Week.
Shortly, some of our families may receive a MACSIS survey link which will be emailed to you. Each year we ask our families to fill in this survey to the best of their knowledge so we can gain an understanding of our strengths and challenges. These results allow us to set future directions. If you are one of the families asked to complete this survey, please put some time aside to do so, as your thoughts and insights are valued.
Story Time
Our third story time session on Wednesday 21 August @2.20pm was a hive of activity with kids dressing up to celebrate Book Week. Please feel free to join in as we have two more remaining for the term, just book through Leanne at the office.
School Closure
Tomorrow (Friday 23 August), we have a school closure day. The staff will have professional development in the area of formation in Religious Education with Father Rob Galea. We are combining with the staff from Sacred Heart, Preston at our school.
Grade 4 Camp
Our Grade 4 camp was a wonderful experience for all our Grade 4 campers. The students had an amazing time at Sovereign Hill panning for gold, playing ten pin bowling, going deep down into the mines, watching gold being poured, candles being dipped and confectionary being made. We even got to try Blackcurrent confectionary that was made in front of our eyes. There were many highlights for the students, with the opportunity to buy souvenirs and watch the amazing light show, just to name a few. Our students demonstrated exceptional behaviour and were a pleasure to have on camp and we cannot thank the staff enough, who all went above and beyond to make the camp a wonderful experience.
Fathers' Day Stall
Next week on Thursday morning, we have our P&F Fathers' / Special Person Stall.
Your child can bring up to $20 to spend (don't forget to send them with a bag to bring home their gifts).
We need some volunteers please from 8.45am to 11.30am (you must have a current WWC registered at the school office). If you can help, please leave your name with Leanne by phone or email. Thank you!
Father's Day Celebration
On Friday 30th August 2024 we will be celebrating Fathers or the special males in our lives. Come and join the staff for afternoon tea in the staffroom, followed by activities with your child/ren. Looking forward to seeing all our dads there.
Parent Teacher Interviews
Our next Parent/Teacher interviews will be held next Thursday 29th August. On this day the children will finish at 1:00 pm to allow interviews to start shortly after. The idea of these interviews is for parents to get an idea of their children's progress since the written report.
If you have not yet accessed your written report, I encourage you do so. If you are having difficulty accessing the report, please let us know.
You will be able to book an interview through the school interview site or by using the link below or the QR code below. Please note that after school care will be available from 1:00 for anyone requiring this service.

Prep - 2 Swimming Program
This week, all parents with students in Prep - 2 will receive an Operoo permission form to complete in regards to our Junior Swimming Program. This intensive swimming will take place every day from Monday 9th September - Friday 20th September. Each day, the students will have a 45 minute lesson at Reservoir Leisure Centre. We invite all parents who have a valid working with children check to come along and help if you are willing and able.
Scholastic Book Club Issue 6 Orders
If your child would like to order, either send in the form & correct cash to the office OR order online by 3.30pm Monday 2nd September.
Lost Property
Over the last couple of weeks, we have had a selection of glasses handed in to the office. If you recognise one of the pairs, please come to the office. Also, a set of keys was found in one of our neighbours back yard (b'ball side of school).
We have also had an almost brand new size 6 school jacket handed in... it was inadvertently taken home by a student. If your child lost their jacket early this term or late last term, please see Leanne.
