Referring to the Wellbeing Team

  • For Students: You can reach out to the Student Wellbeing Team by emailing wellbeing@norwood.vic.edu.au or visiting the Student Wellbeing Centre at the back of the M building.
  • For Parents: You can request an appointment for your child by contacting their Year Level Coordinator or Head of Year Level via phone or email.

The Student Wellbeing Team understands that some students and parents may choose to seek professional support outside the school setting. In such cases, the team values working collaboratively with external services and encourages open communication among the student and parents/guardians to ensure the necessary support is put in place.

Information for Parents of VCE Students

VCE can be a stressful time for both you and your child. Study, exams, and decisions about further education can feel overwhelming. Knowing what to look for and having good strategies for how to support your child are the first steps to ensuring the stresses can be managed before they get out of hand.

  • Encourage a Balanced Lifestyle: Remind your child of the importance of a balanced lifestyle. Adequate sleep, proper nutrition, and regular physical activity contribute to better concentration and overall wellbeing.
  • Effective Time Management: Help your child develop strong time management skills. Create a study schedule together, including breaks, to avoid burnout. Balancing study time with relaxation is key.
  • Open Communication: Foster open communication. Encourage your child to talk about their concerns, fears, or anxieties. A problem shared is a problem halved, and addressing issues early can prevent them from escalating.
  • Set Realistic Goals: Guide your child into setting realistic goals. Breaking down larger tasks into smaller, achievable goals can make everything feel more manageable and reduce stress.
  • Celebrate Achievements, Big and Small: Acknowledge and celebrate achievements, whether they are academic milestones or personal. Positive reinforcement boosts confidence and motivates continued effort.
  • Encourage Hobbies and Relaxation: Encourage your child to maintain hobbies and engage in activities they enjoy. Having an outlet for stress is crucial, and enjoying leisure time contributes positively to overall wellbeing.
  • Access Support Services: Remind your child that support services are available. Whether it's academic assistance, counselling, or health services, encourage them to seek help when needed.
