Principal's Message

From the Desk of Kathy Nott - Term 3, Week 6

Good Afternoon Parents/Carers,

I can hardly believe that we are moving into the second half of Term 3.  It has been a very busy term so far and it does not seem to be slowing down any time soon.

Behaviour Focus

Each week we have been focusing on particular values and behaviours with our students.  Our value focus for week 5 was Respect.  The behaviours staff were particularly looking for were speaking kindly, listening and following instructions, caring for property and using our manners.  For the next two weeks our behaviour focus will be on the value of integrity. The word integrity means to be honest and to have strong moral principles.  We are asking students to:

  • Own their own behaviour and not blame others
  • Tell the truth
  • Make good choices
  • Take responsibility for their actions

Book Week 2024

It was great to see so many Parents/Carergivers come to support our children in our Annual Book Parade.  There were so many colourful characters.  The students had a great time parading their costumes and we hope you enjoyed the afternoon.  Congratulations to those students who won book vouchers.  We have many photos of the day which can be found in the Book Week Parade 2024 tab in the newsletter.  I would also like to personally thank everyone who attended the Book Fair and purchased items.  Your contribution goes towards helping our school purchase new books for our library and we really do appreciate it.

Small Schools Soccer Knockout

Our Soccer Team travelled to Glen Innes last Wednesday to compete in the Small Schools Soccer Knockout against Ulmarra Public School.   Once again our team played a fantastic game but unfortunately Ulmarra Public School were the winners on the day. Congratulations to Ulmarra Public School on your win and we wish you well for the rest of the competition.  Congratulations to our team we are all very proud of your efforts and we look forward to the competition again next year.

SASS Week

This week we celebrate SASS Week The theme is 'We Just Do It!', which symbolises the dedication, unwavering determination and commitment our amazing SASS Staff demonstrate each and every day in our school setting.   Our office ladies, Ms Schumann & Mrs Woods support all our teachers and support staff in everything they do each and every day. they also support and care for every student who comes to the office for a late note, magic band-aid/ice pack or please call mum, dad, home for any reason.

Our classroom support staff, Ms Toone, Mrs Pearson, Tina, Ms Wilson, Ms Kennedy and Mr Peach support students and staff every day in the classrooms and on the playground as well as in many other ways when we take students off-site.   The staff and students of Werris Creek Public School thank all our wonderful SASS staff for their unwavering support and commitment and 'We Just Do It' mindset.

Father's Day Breakfast and Stall

We will be holding our annual Father's Day Breakfast on Friday, 30th August between 7:30am and 8:45am.  We look forward to seeing all of our Dads, Grandads or Male Caregivers who play an important role in our students lives. Our P&C will also be holding a Father's Day Stall on the same day with some fantastic gifts to purchase.  Notes for both the Father's Day Breakfast and Stall were sent home last Tuesday, and we ask if you could return them ASAP for catering purposes and co-ordination of our stall it would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards
