Grade Preps have started a new topic this week on Family. Signs they are learning include family, mum, dad, sister, brother, baby, boy, girl, grandmother, grandfather, aunty, uncle, cousin. The preps enjoyed drawing detailed Family Portraits and we are using these to sign sentences to the class for students to try to interpret simple sentences about family members.

 

Grade 1-2s have started their new topic on Transport & Travel. They are learning new signs, including transport/travel, car, bike, motorbike, plane, helicopter, boat, caravan, bus, van, fire engine, police car, ambulance, train and truck. Grade 1-2s enjoyed using a Transport picture board to sign the transport signs for a friend to try to recall the signs correctly.

 

Grade 3-4s finished their Birthday Party invitations and enjoyed signing them to a friend to practise signing how to invite someone to a party, and signing the day, date, month and time. (Enjoy the couple of pictures below of some eager Grade 3-4s signing their Birthday Party invitation to Mrs R!)

The Grade 3-4 students have started a new topic on Food & Meal Times. New signs they are learning include, food/eat, drink, breakfast, lunch, dinner time, coffee, tea, milk, water, sugar, cake, biscuits, and fruit, knife, fork and spoon.

 

Grade 5-6s have been revising signs for Days of the Week, Months of the Year and Seasons. They chose to create a simple Travel Brochure or a PowerPoint on the Seasons and Months of the Year, to sign to a friend.

 

Grade 5-6s are now starting a new topic on People. They will be learning signs, including he, she, they, mine, yours, theirs, boy, girl, child, children, adult, man, woman/lady, person, people. They will also be revising signs learned previously for Describing Myself, including hair colour and styles, and eye colour.
