Learning and Teaching Update

'We aim to provide a school environment where ‘Every person can flourish and be known’ This means that our teaching program identifies the unique needs of each individual student, and delivers a learning program designed to grow them into the best person that they can be'.

Dear Parents and Carers

The Melbourne Archdiocese of Catholic Schools (MACS) have developed a new Vision for Instruction that encapsulates our commitment to excellence in education along with the virtues of faith, hope and love. This Vision for Instruction is inspired by the strategic 2030 plan: Forming Lives to Enrich the World, and calls upon Catholic School teachers to embrace the MACS mission, drawing guidance from the light of Jesus Christ as our model teacher.

Grounded in rich cognitive science, Vision for Instruction identifies the most effective teaching methods supported by evidence of their positive impact on student outcomes. Currently, all MACS schools and teachers are being supported by the system to implement these practices.

At St Anthony's, all staff are receiving professional learning around the Science of Learning and the Model of Cognition. Through a shared and deep understanding of the Principles that underpin how students learn, we aim to move forward with the vision over the rest of the year with high expectations and rigour that will ensure every student is enabled to flourish.

If you would like to know more about the Vision for Instruction, please see myself or a member of the School Leadership team.

Warm regards
