End of Term 3: Reflecting on a Busy Term

As we approach the end of Term 3, it's a good time to reflect on a long and eventful term. While the increased workload and approaching reality have impacted some of our students, we've been working diligently to provide ongoing support through pathway meetings. These meetings have been instrumental in helping our students stay focused on their 2025 goals.

The process of confirming 2025 courses is nearing completion. As we finalise these selections, the school is also making logistical plans to ensure a smooth transition into the new year.

Reminders for Senior School Students

  • Cancelled Classes: If your class is cancelled, please use that time as a study period.
  • Sign-In: When you have a study period, please sign in at the designated location.
  • No Leaving: Students are not allowed to leave the study hall or the college grounds during study periods unless they have prior permission.
  • No Eating: Please refrain from eating in the study hall. Let's help keep our facility clean and well-maintained.

Punctuality Success: A Reminder for Continued Improvement

  • Our new punctuality initiative has been a positive step forward. Students are demonstrating greater diligence in arriving on time for classes, recognising the importance of starting lessons promptly and maintaining a disruption-free learning environment.
  • We encourage students to maintain this level of urgency throughout the day, not just for their first classes. Punctuality is a sign of respect, and we remind students to keep this in mind throughout their school day.
  • Students who are late by more than 30 minutes will be required to make up the missed time during an after-school support session. Please provide a medical certificate for any missed classes due to appointments.

Year 12: Final Days

Time flies when you're having fun (or studying hard)! As we approach the end of the year, it's time to reflect on the hard work and dedication of our Year 12 students.

With just a few days left of classes, it's important to finish strong. Remember to:

  • Attend classes on time: Make the most of your remaining time together.
  • Be prepared: Ensure you're ready for each class and have completed any necessary assignments.
  • Ask questions: Don't hesitate to reach out to your teachers if you have any questions or need clarification on topics.

To our Year 12 students: We wish you all the best as you prepare for your exams and embark on the next chapter of your lives. Remember, you've come a long way, and we're proud of your achievements.

Tuesday, August 13th: Dari Parent Engagement Session on Emotional Intelligence

It was a great success! We were thrilled to welcome Dari-speaking staff from our community to the school for a session on emotional intelligence. Weda from Uniting led an informative discussion that allowed parents to share their thoughts and perspectives in their first language.

The morning tea provided a wonderful opportunity for parents to connect and interact with each other. We look forward to continuing to offer more parent engagement sessions for our community.

Environmental Duty Success: Every Student Contributes

We're celebrating a major achievement in our environmental efforts! Every student at the college is now actively participating in keeping our school clean and tidy. By taking pride in their school and responsibly disposing of waste, our students are making a significant positive impact on our environment. Each class will spend 15 minutes of their class cleaning the yard, once a term. This small contribution ensures we come to a clean school each day and take pride in the environment that we learn in.

Lyndale SC Interact Club Fundraiser - Wheel-a-thon – Friday 13th September

A fantastic achievement! The Lyndale Secondary College Interact Club's Wheel-a-thon was a resounding success, raising a total of $2082.28 to support Wheelchairs for Kids.

This incredible amount will provide 7 young children in need with life-changing wheelchairs. It's a testament to the generosity and compassion of the Lyndale community.

Key highlights of the event:

  • Student participation: Year 7 students experienced firsthand what it's like to use a wheelchair.
  • Teacher race at lunch time added to the excitement.
  • Community support: Generous donations from the Lyndale community contributed significantly to the fundraising efforts.
  • Awareness raising: Students wore crazy socks to raise awareness for the cause.

Wheelchairs for kids provide a life changing opportunity for children who are unable to walk or have a disability. This offers children and families in countries who can’t afford to have a wheelchair or unable to do everyday activities. This organisation helps many children to have opportunities that they never thought they would have had before. Did you know that to make a wheelchair in Australia, it costs around $60,000. However, with only $275 wheelchairs for kids makes the wheelchairs and provides them to kids for free.

Congratulations to the Lyndale SC Interact Club for their outstanding work and commitment to making a difference in the lives of children around the world.
