A note from Mr Jackson

First Nations Students Enjoy Cultural Excursion

First Nations' students joined with other students from  the Banyule/Nillumbik areas in a day of celebrating culture yesterday. Some enjoyed traditional games while others focused on the bus trip and the sausage sizzle. What was certain, is that all who attended had a great day! Thanks to all involved and who participated.

School Readiness Presentation

A special thanks to our Prep Team and Leadership Team who met with a small number of parents last night to explore school readiness. Despite the small numbers of parents present, I was encouraged by the experience and collaborative spirit of our parents and teachers to see the best academic and wellbeing outcomes for students. It certainly was a rich experience.

Student Leadership Presentation

On Friday 22 March at 9:15am, students will be presented with their leadership badges. The State Member, Anthony Carbines, will join us for this celebration and present students’ with their badges. Our School and House Captains, Sustainability and Junior School Council Executives, Digital Technology Leaders as well as our Sustainability Agents and Junior School Representatives from classes will be recognised. After the formalities, parents of these leaders are invited to join in a light morning tea.

Please contact the office if you can support the FORPS team as they cater for the event. Every hand makes a difference.

School Staffing Continues to be a Challenge Across Victoria

On a number of occasions, we have been forced to split classes across the school due to the unavailability of casual teachers in Victoria. We are thankful to our part time staff who have helped support students' learning over the term and will continue to seek ways to ensure the continuity of learning for all.

NAPLAN (Years 3 and 5)

While a number of our students have been nervous and a little anxious as they engage with NAPLAN, all have proven that they are up for a learning challenge. These national assessments provide the school and state with information on student achievement and growth. Thanks to parents who have encouraged their children to positively engage in these assessments and view them as an opportunity to demonstrate what they know and understand. We are hopeful that those students who have missed assessments due to illness or absence will be invited to complete them in the coming days.

Inclusion Day

Tuesday 19 March

The school is invited to wear blue on Tuesday to celebrate Inclusion at Rosanna Primary School. Students will be gathering in multiage groups to explore the value of diversity in our community. These groups will enjoy learning to sign in AUSLAN, creating murals of themselves as a diverse community, and be discussing gender stereotypes. We look forward to creating a collage of students on the back of the hall, as well as marking the week on Friday with special inclusion awards. Students who chose not to dressup in blue are encouraged to wear school uniform. There is no cost for this celebration.

2025 Prep Information Morning

Saturday 23 March

This is a day we can showcase what our school is on about to potential new families. It starts at 9:30am in Chandler Hall with an introduction to the school and is followed by a morning tea brunch. Our Prep team will be hosting tours and provide a perspective of life in the Prep area. If you have family members or neighbours in the area who are considering coming along to Rosanna Primary School we encourage you to pass on a flyer or encourage them to register.

Our promotional board has gone up on Davies Street and is a reminder to parents considering enrolling their child that tours are provided.
