Principal's Report

Dear families

It's been a super week at Macedon Primary School, starting with athletic sports for students in years 3 to 6, lots of learning and fun and a colour run on Thursday to end the term.  Sporting events have been one of many highlights this term, with outstanding swimming, cross country and athletics events conducted by MPS's fantastic PE teacher, Mr O.

The Foundation students have made an excellent start to their time at school, engaging in the variety of activities offered with great enthusiasm and sharing their delightful personalities. Their year six buddies have been extremely caring and taken their role of supporting the younger students very seriously.  Opportunities to be school leaders have allowed all of the year six students to shine and have an impact. They have shown a lot of initiative and a high level of social justice.

It's been an incredible privilege to work at, what is an exceptional school this term. I've enjoyed getting to know the families behind the young people at Macedon Primary, been inspired by the dedication and passion of the staff, and loved every interaction with the wonderful students here.

Color Run

One more sleep until the big day!

The color run will be a spectacular way for students to end the term and they are extremely excited. We've had some questions around the use of water spraying devices and the decision is that students may bring a device that sprays water (one device per child would be more than adequate). We will have some plans in place for safe use of this equipment and ask that you have a chat with your child/ren tonight. As is always the case, the school doesn't take responsibility for loss or damage to these sorts of things.

Thank You to Sarah

Today was Sarah's last day at Macedon Primary School and she was able to spend her day with students in Middle Gully doing what she loves most - engaging young people in outdoor experiences to develop their knowledge, skills and values. Sarah has been key to the establishment of the Forest School program which is a unique and incredibly valuable program. On behalf of the school community I'd like to thank Sarah for her dedication to this role and wish her all the best for the future.

Parents and Friends Association

Following a written request to formalise the Parents and Friends Association at Macedon Primary School, six interested parents met last Friday to determine if an interim committee would be formed. An interim committee was established. This committee will now develop a constitution under Department guidelines which, once completed, will be sent to the Department for approval by the minister or minister's delegate.

Cooler Weather

With cooler weather ahead, the holidays might be a good time to hunt out warmer uniform items and check how they fit. Any items you no longer need can be donated to the school.  We have noticed a few sport brands and club jumpers appearing in the last few weeks, particularly on older students, we would like to remind everyone that only Macedon Primary School tops should be worn (and look fantastic!).

Assembly

School assembly will be held on Friday afternoons at 3.00pm at on a fortnightly basis next term. Assemblies will be held on odd weeks (see the calendar for dates).

Gisborne Rotary Club Easter Coloring Competition:

Well done to all of the Macedon Primary students who submitted their beautiful entries in the colouring competition. Lyn from Rotary commented that we had the largest amount of entries.  We are pleased to advise that Zara G from grade 5 was the overall winner, with Joe G, Harry H and Milla D who won for their year level.

Best wishes to all Macedon Primary families for a safe and happy break.
