Soccer Gala Day

What a fantastic day we had with students in Grade 3, 4 and 5 boys and girls playing soccer all day.  We had 65 students, 8 teams, 6 members of staff and 4 parent helpers at the CFC Cup at Carwatha College.

All teams played really well and showed their understanding of our school rules be being Responsible in how they conducted themselves thoughout the day, getting to and from the event as well as organising themselves into numerous games which required substitutions, change of fields, etc.  Respectful of each other, their coaches, parents and staff looking after them as well as the other teams they played.  Resilient, in the ways they reacted in the matches and decisions being made in the games and in the results of the game - whether that be in success or defeat.

The following teams made it through to the semi final stage on the day:  Grade 3 Boys STARS, Grade 4 Boys VICTORY, Grade 4 Boys UNITED.  The Grade 3/4 Girls STARS made it to the Grand Final but lost in that game.

Well done to the Grade 5 Girls GEMS and Grade 3 Boys GEMS who made it through to the Grand Final and won bringing home a Trophy for both teams.

We were lined up ready to get onto the bus everyone was so excited. Once we got to Carwatha College that was the school we were all playing at. Once we were at the school we went to their basketball court, the principal was welcoming everyone to their school Once the principal finished talking we headed off to our pitch to play. We weren’t playing first but we watched the Grade 3’s.On the pitch, we were ready to try our hardest.

The whistle was blown and the opposition started the Kick Off. We ran to the ball like we were hungry for victory! We heard the full-time bell, we shook hands and celebrated that we had won 4-0. We went to the other pitch and watched the girls play they won too. Now it was our turn again we were the best team we had seen but they were friendly. They took the kick-off, so we ran to the ball but they were very skilful and we lost 4-0 we had 2 matches left. We watched the other grade 4 they won four nil.

Now the 3rd game for us has come. If we lose we don’t go in the semi’s. We started to kick off and we scored 1-0. Then they scored a brilliant goal 1-1. Then 5 minutes later we scored the match-winner. We were in the semis we celebrated. After the last game!! We were in a hurry for our last match of the group stage.  The other team started the kick and we all ran to our positions. We won 3-0 now time for the semi-final, we said to each other. The other grade 4’s are in too, same as the girls. We started kicking off, i booted it down Jonah got the ball and missed the shot!  We all tried to score but only Sebastian managed to score a goal. The full-time bell rang we lost 3-1 we were devastated. The other grade 4’s lost too and the girls were in the final so we watched them. They lost in penalties we were sad but had lots of fun. We went to the basketball court and the principal handed out the trophies. After that, we took a group photo and then went back to the bus and went back to school THE END!
