Term 1 and 2 Sports Highlights

  • Taylor Horne was selected to compete in the North-West Under 15s touch football team and played at the NSWCHSSA 
  • Three of our students set new school records at our school swimming carnival; Savannah Hughes, Nate Dewson and Emma Dixon. Emma and Savannah qualifying for the North West Regional Swimming Carnival. Further congratulations to Savannah Hughes on qualifying to compete in backstroke and breaststroke in the NSWCHSSA Swimming Championships in Sydney.
  • Matilda Currey was selected for the under 18’s CHS Rugby Unions 7’s Tour Squad and played in New Zealand during the last school holidays 
  • Taylor Horne and Ashley Hanslow were selected in the North West Regional U16 Rugby League team, Matilda Currey was selected the in the U18 North West Regional rugby league team.
  • From representing North West at the Greater Western Rugby trials Ashley and Matilda were selected in their respective age groups and competed at the NSWCHSSA Girls Rugby League Championships in Wollongong.
  • Ashley Hanslow and Matilda Currey were selected in the North West U18 rugby 7’s team and competed at the NSWCHSSA Rugby 7s Championships in Bathurst.
  • Matilda Currey was selected in the North West Opens girls Touch Football Team and competed in the NSWCHSSA Opens girls touch football Championships in Tempe.
  • Brittney Schwager, Emily Hartnett, Matilda Currey and Megan Crutcher were selected in the Namoi Zone Opens Netball team to play at the North West trials in Armidale.
  • From the North West opens netball trials Matilda Currey and Megan Crutcher were selected in the North West regional opens netball team and competed at the NSWCHSSA Netball Championships in Griffith. Matilda was voted Player’s Player by her peers for her performance at the carnival.
  • Jackson Humphries, Toby Galagher, Liam Crutcher, Mason Humphries and Rakaia Skinner were selected to complete in the Under 15 and Under 18s Namoi Zone Rugby Leagues teams attended North West trials in Armidale.
  • Ruby Clayton and Ashley Hanslow attended the new U16 rugby 7s trial pathway and were selected in the NSW CHS U16 rugby 7’s 2nd side competing at the NSW All Schools Rugby Union in Narrabeen.
  • WWHS students, Antwun Barden, Jack Cole, Tyler Simmonds, Alexi Hannaford, Isaac Green, Kyle Ball and Aiden Cave attended the Multi-Sport Day in Tamworth last Term. 
  • Athletics Carnival – 5 new records were set including; Ruby Clayton 14 years 200m, Layla Hamilton 13 years Discus, Taylor Horne 15 years shot Put, Georgia Horne 16 years Shot Put and Merah Senior Girls relay. The team comprised: Megan Crutcher, Bella Suckling, Georgia Horne and Taylor Horne
  • Lawn Bowls – Rakai Skinner, Brock Allen, Hunter Doring played Gunnedah HS in the Semi Finals of the Statewide KO competition. It was a tight game with Gunnedah eventual winners 11-9.
  • WWHS students attended the Inclusive Sport Ten Pin Bowling day in Tamworth tomorrow, following on from a successful representation in 2023. 
  • Opens Girls Touch football played Glen Innes for a place in the North West final. Unfortunately, they were unsuccessful but excited for the next few years as WWHS had a young team.
  • Opens Girls Volleyball attended the North West Statewide KO finals in Armidale. 
  • Hunter Doring and Brock Allen with represent North West at the NSWCHSSA Lawn Bowls Championships in Warilla next week.
