Principal's Message

This term has been a particularly busy one as we made final preparations to move into our new school. Staff were involved in a Development Day on Monday 17th June, then on Tuesday 18th June our students entered the school for the first time. It was indeed a momentous day and a fantastic part of Wee Waa High School history.

Despite some delays, it has to be said that our new school, and the vast array of facilities and resources we now have, is simply outstanding. It is a terrific asset not just for Wee Waa, but for the whole of the Narrabri Shire and the generations of students who will undertake their high school years here over the coming decades.

In order to really capitalise on our new learning spaces and state-of-the-art resources and technology, staff have been participating in professional development sessions over the past term. Ensuring our students' education is further optimised as a result of our new facilities is very much a focus for our teachers and support staff alike.

The Wee Waa News compiled a comprehensive article on students' first week in their new campus. You can read the article here

I'd like to thank Mr Andrew Wales and Mrs Carmel Schwager for their tireless work that was instrumental in helping to make this additional class possible.

I'd like to sincerely thank my colleague, Marjory Drummond who relieved in my role last term while I was away on long service leave and Donna McKinstry who relived in the role of Deputy Principal. They did an outstanding job in my absence.

My thanks also goes to the Wee Waa Public School community for hosting us on their campus since September 2020 while our new school was designed and built. They have been incredibly hospitable, and we are grateful their patience and goodwill.

This is an exciting and momentous time in Wee Waa High School’s long history. Our new school is truly outstanding, and we look forward to inviting parents and the community to visit in the not too distant future when the formal opening will take place.

Yours sincerely

Ms Jacki Neil
