Secondary Sports Day 2024
This year we had a change to the structure of our Sports Day in order to accommodate our ever growing Secondary School. We created a two day event which provided many more opportunities for student participation.
The Year 10 - 12 day on Tuesday the 19th allowed for each of the students to try every sporting activity. At the Year 7 - 9 day it was a fabulous atmosphere and the best attendance at a Sports Day for a long time. The behaviour of the students was exceptional and many teachers commented on the great sportsmanship shown.
The Year 12 leaders also came along to help with the running of the event and encourage their peers.
For the staff involved it is always a fun day and an opportunity to build relationships with students. It is also a significant amount of work and I want to thank all who were involved, especially the PE department.

Year 10 Kangaroo Island Camp, a Student's Perspective
In Week 6, the Year 10 Geography class went on an excursion to Kangaroo Island, from Tuesday to Thursday. From surveying locals, to exploring beaches, our aim was to discover how human activities impact the KI environment.
Across the camp, we met many different people, including Caroline from Birdlife Australia and Sam from Flinders Chase National Park. We had the opportunity to hear about their stories on the island and how they have seen the environment change over time.
We climbed rocks at Stokes Bay and Pennington Beach, and went on a guided tour at Seal Bay. We were lucky enough to see a young seal and its mother in the sand dunes, something our guide, Emma, describes as very lucky for tourists.
A highlight of this trip was visiting Remarkable Rocks, where we climbed over and under the rock formations. This camp was a great opportunity to see the environments outside of Adelaide, and everyone had a great time.

SAFTA Pétanque Competition
We're pleased to share the outstanding performance of our students from Years 7 to 10 at the SAFTA Pétanque competition. Pétanque originated in France and is a form of lawn bowls.
Representing Emmaus Christian College with passion and integrity, our two teams showed enthusiasm, honesty, and humility throughout the event held on Thursday 21 March. Their sportsmanship and respectful conduct not only reflected positively on our school but also left a lasting impression on participants from other schools.
We applaud these students for their exceptional representation both on and off the field.
