What’s been happening in Year 4

It has been an exciting start to our learning in Year 4, with plenty of events that happened this term. We experienced an incursion, an excursion, and a swimming week.

Democracy, Community and Me Incursion

On Tuesday, 5th March, we participated in a Democracy, Community and Me Incursion here at our school. We learned about the fundamentals of democracy and government in Australia, including the difference between rules and laws and how they are made to benefit the community. During the incursion, we participated in role plays, including a mock election for the local government, where we learned about preferential voting and absolute majorities. We also participated in a role play in a local government council meeting, complete with costumes and props, to illustrate how local rules and laws are made for the community. We took on the roles of councillors and residents, contributing our opinions to the debate to help us understand the democratic process.

Swimming Week

In Week 7, we had lots of fun in and around the water during our swimming lessons. We have learnt about important water safety skills when learning to swim and have practised a range of swimming styles, strokes and techniques.

Year 4 Girls Mercy College Visit

The Year 4 girls, visited Mercy College and had a day of learning and fun activities. During our day, we experienced what it is like to be a Mercy student for a day! We had lots of fun exploring and learning about the different subjects offered to high school students at Mercy College. We were provided with morning tea and a BBQ for lunch. Here are some snapshots of our fun-filled day.
