The Power of the Sideline

Six matches across the District. Four wins. One draw. One narrow loss. But on Saturday June 14, the real headline wasn’t just the scoreboard - it was the powerful presence of the sideline.

As the KWS Kicks, KWS Kinetics, KWS Kestrels and KWS Kodiaks took to fields across the region, what stood out most was the collective energy surrounding the game. From the first whistle to the last, the sidelines buzzed with encouragement, positive reinforcement and genuine connection. Parents, coaches, peers and teammates created an environment that elevated performance and celebrated collective effort - a reminder that football is about more than just what happens on the pitch.

Our Junior School players demonstrated strong skill development, sportsmanship and teamwork across all six fixtures. There were moments of brilliant attacking play, organised defence and clever adaptability mid-match.

Whether chasing down a loose ball, regrouping after a missed opportunity or celebrating a goal, our students embodied the values of courage, resilience, and unity - inspired not just by each other, but by the strength of support surrounding them. On Saturday June 14, it was clear that the sideline wasn’t just a place to spectate - it was a place that oozed a sense of belonging and pulsed with the threads of connection.

Congratulations to all JS teams for their efforts this weekend. The results reflect both growing skills and the powerful influence of a community that shows up.

For those of us who are part of the JS Football community, we take pride in knowing that while the scoreboard tells one story, the sideline tells the heart of it.

Hockey

The Junior School hockey season has kicked off with great energy and enthusiasm! With the opening of the brand-new field, our teams will now be playing many more games and making the most of the fantastic facility. The Mavericks, Brumbies and Thunder have all shown impressive dedication during training sessions and are applying their growing skills with confidence and teamwork during games.

It has been a joy to see students supporting one another, pushing themselves, and thriving on the field. Thank you to all of the parents for braving the chilly Wednesday evenings so far.
